Dr Saffa Smart (Faculty)

Dr. Saffa Smart holds a PhD and Masters in Health Care Administration degrees in addition to his foundation and professional trainings as Community/Public Health. Dr. Smart worked with several national and international NGOs within and outside Sierra Leone. He worked with Christian-Aid as Senior Programme Officer Health; as Programme Manager-Africare, Save the Children UK as Health Programme Manager , Marie Stopes International, Concern WorldWide, and the Ministry of Health and Sanitation. He had also implemented EC, DFID, Global Fund, GTZ, UNFPA and UNICEF funded projects.
Dr. Smart worked full-time in the Directorate of Hospital and Ambulance Services (Principal Community Health Officer), Ministry of Health-Sierra Leone, and later as a Consultant on secondment after his retirement. He is currently a Freelance Consultant working for various national and international agencies. He serves as Consultant (Strategic Advisor) for GAVI Funding through the UK-based Mannion Daniels Consultancy Firm, supporting CSOs in Sierra Leone.

He has acquired a wealth of skills and these include programme development and monitoring, partnership development, engagement and coordination, proposal and budget development, budget management, monitoring and tracking of expenditure, donor reporting, disaster risk management and media work
