Welcome to the Institute for Health Professional Development

About us

The Institute for Health Professionals Development (IHPD) is the idea of Sierra Leonean public health practitioners and scholars living in the country and the diaspora. The founders aim to support government and development partners’ efforts in strengthening the national health system through health workforce development and maximizing public health impact through high-quality, relevant professional training programs linked directly to service delivery.

IHPD’s seeks to institute the practice of continuing education among healthcare providers and public health practitioners. The Institute provides its learners with relevant and high-quality courses that develop highly effective healthcare and public health practitioners, leading to improved population health outcomes.

The institute will expand the opportunities for training, particularly the mid-level health workforce, through collaborating with other stakeholders in training programs and continued professional development education. Where necessary and feasible, this may be done in collaboration with or in support of professionals and/or institutions abroad.

Empowering the health workforce for impact.
