The Institute for Health Professionals Development (IHPD) is the idea of Sierra Leonean public health practitioners and scholars living in the country and the diaspora. The founders aim to support government and development partners’ efforts in strengthening the national health system through health workforce development and maximizing public health impact through high-quality, relevant professional training programs that are linked directly to service delivery.
IHPD’s seeks to institute the practice of continuing education among healthcare providers and public health practitioners. The Institute provides its learners with relevant and high-quality courses that develop highly effective healthcare and public health practitioners, leading to improved population health outcomes.
The institute will expand the opportunities for training particularly the mid-level health workforce through collaborating with other stakeholders in training programs and continued professional development education. Where necessary and feasible, this may be done in collaboration with or in support of professionals and/or institutions abroad.
As a private provider of continued education in health, IHPD purpose is to:
●Offer programs that emphasize the practical application of theoretical knowledge, analytical frameworks, management principles, and other essential skills that will help health practitioners thrive in their professional careers.
● Support our learners with services that foster success, personal development and career potential.
●Prepare research-oriented health sector leaders, practitioners and educators to utilize some of the latest evidence-based information that will ensure the provision of high-quality, accessible, and culturally competent healthcare in a variety of settings.
● Support public and private institutions, agencies and organizations in a tailored-capacity building sessions for their workforce.
